Paul Vallone, candidate for New York City Council in the 19thDistrict is proud and honored to announce the Endorsement of Mark Green, candidate for Public Advocate. The two Candidates made their announcement to mutually endorse each other on Friday afternoon at Vallone's newly opened Campaign Headquarters located at 25-59 Francis Lewis Blvd in Flushing Queens. Their mutual goals and concerns for the city, such as improvement of public safety, the return of integrity and positive leadership and the prevention of over-development of residential areas were some of the key factors in prompting this alliance.
Green, a former Public Advocate seeking re-election, boasts a reputation of over 30 years in public service, including his former position as Consumer Affairs Commissioner. A native New Yorker born in Brooklyn, Green has been a public interest lawyer, author, teacher, and founder of the Democracy Project, a public policy institute in New York City. Now the leading candidate for the seat of Public Advocate, his campaign rightly values the opinions and concerns of the people on vital issues, frequently giving them the opportunity to have their voices heard.
Green stated, “Queens and the City need a community leader and fighter like Paul Vallone, which is why I am enthusiastically endorsing him for the 19th District Council seat. Paul will fight to maintain core community values by ensuring that there is oversight of neighborhood zoning laws that will ultimately lead to responsible commercial and residential development. And to cynics, I regard it as a goodthing that he comes from a family dedicated to the well-being of our City. I have no problem with the Kennedys in America or the Vallones in NYC -- both are dedicated to helping working families survive and thrive.”
Vallone, a first time candidate is excited by the prospect of working alongside Green and welcomes his honesty and integrity as they both look forward to serving the city together. Having been a resident of Flushing for fifteen years, Vallone is extremely passionate about representing his community and continuing his family's long tradition of public service. Vallone states, “Our community deserves positive, family oriented leadership in a time where public opinion of our political process is constantly questioned.” Vallone ended by saying “The strong local support and endorsements received by the campaign are a clear indication that we are heading in the right direction.”
Green and Vallone ended the announcement of their endorsement by spending the afternoon campaigning together locally at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center.
